Oats are included in my shopping because of my high school reading about Ivan. Sometimes homeless people wander into my home, because I have no fence. Puts things into perspective.

David~ in Australia we try to move about 30 mins a day to burn fat ~:-)

"Stop counting calories, and focus on nutrition."
                                                           ~ Miranda Kerr, 2009

An amazing thing that happens to consciousness when we visualise (focus); subjective and objective realities meld~ experience Self as a molecule in the ATP cycle ...

~ perhaps Tuesday is waiting for a workout...?

Great post. I think listening to your body is the best thing - like you said.
I don't think you should eat anything. I object to biting into animal flesh and eating chicken ovaries - eggs.

I like John's idea of Savor the Flavor. For me the mantra is 10 seconds on your lips a lifetime on your hips when it comes to junk food.

I do like the 30 day challenge of not eating until I'm full and eating slow. Game on!

Yes I've definitely heard of the warrior diet. Let me know how it works for you as time goes on.

I'm already really liking my new diet. I seem to have a better mood, but that could be the long weekend talking.

David, I'm doing something right now called The Warrior Diet. You might have heard of it over on Dragondoor. I'm only 4 days in, but I have to say I love it so far.

The premise goes: you undereat all day (mainly nuts, fruit, and water), then at night you have one big meal--a sensible gorge-fest, meaning lots of good stuff, not lots of chips and ice cream.

The biggest surprises: 1. I think I'm hungry during the day, but it's obvious that I'm just bored or in the habit.

2. It's convenient! I was eating 6 or 7 times a day before, and preparing food for a day felt like solving a rubiks cube with mittens and a blindfold on.

Now I'm eating once. It hasn't affected my strength, and it feels good.

Good luck with everything. I know you've got 30 days in you, regardless of what happens then.

It's difficult to separate the effects of exercise from those of diet but I know that this latest weight gain is primarily food, because I've stopped working out plenty of times without the same thing happening.

In any case, combining them should do me some good.

My struggle with the kettlebell routine came when I realized I was making a mistake with my form. After that, I couldn't bring any confidence or resolve to my workouts, so they became exercises in self-doubt. But I'm getting help with that and I can work out freely again.

Sweet, another 30 day experiment. First with Lisis' Road to Freedom update and now this? This just too much :)

I think it's great you're going to practice mindful eating. I'm notorious for being the slowest eater wherever I go. It's all about the tasting. "Savor the flavor."

By the way, I don't think that the fat you've accrued is caused more by the food than it is by your lack of kettlebell exercising. Have you ever heard of the junk food diet? You can basically eat whatever you want as long as you burn more calories than you take in. I've seen really astonishing results with this diet on this site called Stronglifts (I'm not trying to link drop - I just think it has a lot of great information that's all :) ).

The main thing that spoke to me about this post was when you said you left the kettlebells alone for a month. I understand how you feel. I think the regular routine of exercising was the problem for me. I was doing a program called onehundredpushups - everything was going great. But since the middle of last month I haven't really done that much. I just got bored because of the little amount of variation. The most pushups I can muster now is around 60 at one time.

Anyway, with the proper amount of exercise and management of food intake you're going to do great, David. Remember that you haven't given up yet ;)

Hi Jay. That's a big part of the pattern for me, though I haven't heard about anyone else talking about it until now. I thought I was crazy.

If I know there's going to be a five- or six-hour stretch before the next meal, I tend to overeat in order to endure that stretch.

I foresee much fruit in my near future.
